Fish Creek Community Forest

119 Avenue near Northern Lights College – Map

Fantastic trail network for all ages and fitness levels right in town. Explore the forest on looping paved and gravel trails. Excellent adventure for kids of all ages!

Amenities: Port-a-Potty (summer only), paved and gravel trails

Notes: Top section of trail is paved and easily accessible with strollers, wheelchairs and little legs. Bottom section of trails are gravel or dirt and can be a bit more of a challenge but lots of fun to explore! Beware of possible off-leash dogs and wildlife.

Solar Trail

100 Street & Northern Lights Drive – Map

Paved trail network looping the city.  Explore the forest on looping paved and gravel trails. Excellent adventure for kids of all ages!

Amenities: Washroom, paved trail, benches.

Notes: Parking lot at 100 St & Northern Lights drive. Path is cleared of snow in winter and swept in summer, great for little legs and wheels. Watch for wildlife and off-leash dogs

Surerus Park

10400 86 Street – Map

Busy, multi-use park 

Amenities: Washrooms (open during baseball games), Paved trails, soccer field, baseball diamonds, tennis court, playground, horseshoe pit.

Notes: Paved trail loops around all of the ball diamonds and connects up to the hospital loop. Most of the path is away from the road and traffic. The tennis court is open and in good condition. Soccer field and baseball diamonds are available for use provided there are no planned events. The playground is small and old. 

Kin Park

96 Street and Northern Lights Drive – Map

Large green space with multiple facilities.  We love to explore the forest trails and picnic on the grass in summer.

Amenities: Port-a-Potty (summer only), BMX trail, playground, outdoor gym, forest trails, picnic tables

Notes: The BMX course is great for all ages but can get muddy and bigger kids might take over (time it right!) The playground is older and due for an upgrade. 

Mathews Park

92A Street & 87 Avenue – Map

Large green space with many attractions for summer and winter.  The winter skating loop is a highlight!

Amenities: Washrooms, walking path, playground, playground, forest trails, picnic tables, basketball court, skating loop (winter only)

Notes: Great park to explore. We love to play in the trees and picnic on the grass. 

Toboggan Hill Park

93 Street & 93 Avenue – Map

Large, hilly green space with many improvements in recent years.  

Amenities: Washrooms, paved and dirt trails, sledding hill (winter), Skateboard park, Off-leash dog park, benches, frisbee golf course. 

Notes: The skate park can be enjoyed by all ages, time it right for littles. Parking located at the top of hill as well, off 97 Avenue. There is a 9 hole disc golf course within Toboggan Hill,  disc golf sets are available to rent at the FSJ library; this is a great activity for older kids and teenagers.

Bert Bowes Running Track

Notes: : A brand new paved track can be accessed off 97th ave, it is the perfect sized paved loop that is away from traffic and rock free
